Washington D.C. – LCV Victory Fund congratulates Abby Finkenauer and Cindy Axne on their victories in Iowa’s 1st and 3rd Congressional districts. LCV Victory Fund invested more than $800,000 in Iowa to expose their opponents’ extreme anti-environment records.
“We are thrilled that Iowans chose representatives who will act on climate,” said Gene Karpinski, LCV President. “With these new environmental champions in Congress, we are confident that the Hawkeye State will continue to lead the nation in clean energy innovation.”
In the 1st district, LCV Victory Fund named incumbent Rod Blum to the iconic Dirty Dozen because of his climate skepticism and history of voting against clean air, clean water, clean energy and public health.
In the 3rd district, LCV Victory Fund ran a TV ad that exposed incumbent David Young’s record of voting against common-sense environmental safeguards and protections for people with preexisting conditions.
Environmental donors contributed over $300,000 to Iowa candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $21 million for the 2018 cycle.
LCV Action Fund endorsed Finkenauer and Axne because of their strong clean energy records and commitment to climate action. LCV Action Fund also endorsed J.D. Scholten.
