New buy builds on significant field and TV efforts to defeat Pat Toomey

Philadelphia, PA – Today, the LCV Victory Fund is announcing a new $485,000 TV advertising campaign to defeat Sen. Pat Toomey and elect Katie McGinty in the Pennsylvania Senate race. This ad buy builds on the $1.5 million joint LCV and EDF Action independent expenditure TV ad campaign that ran through July, as well as LCV’s separate and ongoing $300,000 persuasion canvass campaign in Pittsburgh. LCV named Toomey to its signature Dirty Dozen list in June.

This new LCV Victory Fund campaign starts today, and will run for one week on broadcast and cable in the Philadelphia market. The ad, “Big” tells voters how Sen. Pat Toomey has voted numerous times to protect nearly $24 billion in tax breaks for Big Oil polluters, while receiving over $700,000 in campaign contributions from them. This new buy brings LCV and LCV Victory Fund’s total investment in four key Senate races, including Pennsylvania, to $5.7 million. LCV is proud to support environmental champion Katie McGinty, whose spirited bid to unseat Sen. Pat Toomey, and his record of support for corporate interests over the people of Pennsylvania, have produced a tight race as we head into the fall.
