LCV’s Ohio Program Statement on the Committee Recommendation on Clean Energy Standards

Sep 30, 2015

OHIO — The state legislative committee charged with studying Ohio’s clean energy standards made their recommendation today to indefinitely continue the freeze on Ohio’s standards. In response, Beth Nagusky, LCV Ohio Policy Director, issued the following statement:

“The committee today ignored the overwhelming evidence before them that showed that Ohio’s clean energy standards reduce electric bills, grow the Ohio economy, create jobs in the state while protecting public health and the environment. Instead they rehashed polluter-funded studies. Given the committee’s makeup and flawed process, this is terribly disappointing but it comes as no surprise. Ohioans support these critical clean energy standards that protect our air and create good jobs. We’re glad that Governor Kasich is telling the legislature what Ohioans already know–going backwards on clean energy is unacceptable. Ohio should once again be investing in our clean energy future instead of doubling down on the dirty fuels of the past.”
