LCV will strongly consider including these votes in our 2026 National Environmental Scorecard.

Re: Oppose H.R. 7008 – Extreme Attack on Voting Rights
Dear Senator,
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) believes that everyone has a right to clean air, clean water, public lands, and a safe climate protected by a just and equitable democracy. Each year, LCV publishes the National Environmental Scorecard, detailing the voting records of members of Congress. The Scorecard is distributed to LCV members, concerned voters nationwide, and the media.
We urge you to vote NO on H.R. 7008, the so-called Stop Insider Trading Act, which includes extreme attacks on voting rights. This bill includes a strict voter ID provision from the SAVE America Act that would make casting a ballot harder for Americans in nearly every state.
The voter ID requirements of this bill would be more restrictive than any voter identification system currently in use. Imposing a national requirement that voters show either a driver’s license, state ID card, passport, military or VA ID, or eligible Tribal ID is severely restrictive for voters and burdensome for state and local administrators. People of color, young people, and people with disabilities disproportionately lack access to these forms of ID, and the bill would exclude documents currently permitted by states across the country. If passed, an estimated forty-nine states and the District of Columbia would need to make major revisions to state election laws, yet the Act provides no resources to implement changes. Like the SAVE Act, this bill would not make our elections more secure. Rather, it would weaken our democracy by denying eligible Americans their rights and burdening our hard-working and underfunded local election officials.
For all these reasons, LCV strongly urges you to vote NO on H.R. 7008, the so-called Stop Insider Trading Act, which includes extreme attacks on voting rights.
