Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters released the following statement on Rep. Carlos Curbelo’s bill to price carbon emissions from Vice President for Government Affairs Sara Chieffo:

“Congressman Curbelo has clearly put a significant amount of thought into the Market Choice Act, which represents a novel approach to addressing the climate crisis. While we have some serious concerns with many provisions in this bill, we commend him on his effort and encourage his Republican colleagues to heed his example and start serious conversations in Congress about the urgent need for action and the significant economic benefits that climate solutions can unleash. Unfortunately last week’s anti-climate votes show that Republican leadership and a majority of the House remain beholden to climate-denying corporate polluters, even as the public’s demand for bipartisan climate action grows.”
