WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the League of Conservation Voters, NextGen Climate and The Sierra Club announced that they will join Our Lives on the Line, a growing coalition of leading health care advocates and progressive groups mobilizing across the country to hold Congressional Republicans accountable for their plans to take health care away from millions of Americans. As environmental organizations working to ensure every family shares the benefits of a healthy climate, the new partners know that Republicans’ efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act target the most vulnerable among us, including working families, seniors, and children.

The three groups join a growing list of partners — including Planned Parenthood Action Fund and MoveOn.org — who will be mobilizing across the country on July 29 to hold Republicans accountable. As Congressional Republicans continue to push forward their deeply unpopular plan to take away health care from millions, the fight to protect every American’s access to quality, affordable health care has never been more critical.

“Communities across the country are experiencing the devastating health costs of industrial pollution, natural disasters and a rapidly changing climate — with low-income and communities of color bearing the heaviest burden of the climate crisis,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for the League of Conservation Voters. “As we continue to fight the onslaught of attacks on protections for our air, water and lands coming from the extreme leaders in Congress and the Trump administration, LCV remains firmly opposed to taking away healthcare by repealing the Affordable Care Act — especially for those who otherwise wouldn’t have access.”

“Republican attempts to rip health care from millions of Americans cruelly target our most vulnerable communities and rob working families,” said NextGen Climate President Tom Steyer. “The flaws of this bill are glaringly obvious to an overwhelming majority of Americans—they see through Republicans’ schemes to put lives at risk for the sake of corporate interests—and they are making their voices heard. In the face of these attacks, we will stand side-by-side with the American people to defeat the Republican bill and fight for affordable health care for all Americans.”

On July 29, Americans in communities across the country will join forces to stand against Congressional Republicans’ draconian and rushed plan to take health care away from millions. The national day of action will include a national event in Washington, D.C. and rallies across the country. A list of the more than 50 partners can be found here.
