Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Aftab Pureval for Congress in Ohio’s 1st District.

“Aftab Pureval is committed to addressing climate change and building a clean energy future,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He knows that green jobs and investments in new technology will be a key economic driver for Ohio’s future. We can count on Pureval to fight for Ohio’s families and environment in Congress and we are excited to endorse his campaign.”

“Aftab Pureval is a trusted ally in the fight for clean air, clean water, and climate action here in Ohio,” said Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund President Heather Taylor-Miesle. “We value his commitment to a healthy environment for all Ohioans and we look forward to working with him as we continue to protect drinking water and build Ohio’s clean energy economy.”

“I am so proud to have the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Aftab Pureval. “LCV is on the front lines to protect our environment for safer and healthier communities. In Congress, I will work to bring green jobs to our district, invest in clean energy, and help tackle the threat of climate change. There is no more important responsibility we have to our children and grandchildren.”

Aftab Pureval was born and raised in southwestern Ohio to immigrant parents. He graduated from The Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Following law school, Pureval joined the Washington, D.C. office of White & Case LLP as an antitrust litigator. He then moved to Cincinnati, where he became a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, and later served as in-house counsel at Procter & Gamble. In 2016, he was elected as the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts. In Congress, Aftab Pureval will work to address climate change and invest in clean energy jobs.

Pureval’s opponent, Representative Steve Chabot, voted for the tax bill that gave away $25 billion to Big Oil and polluter special interests while opening up the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for drilling. He has voted time and again against climate action and protections for clean air, clean water, and public lands. Representative Chabot has earned a 0 percent score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard for the last three consecutive years.
