Washington, D.C. – In response to today’s announcement by the EPA that it will keep clean car pollution standards set in 2012 in place for cars produced from 2022 to 2025, LCV Vice President of Government Affairs Sara Chieffo issued the following statement:

“Keeping these strong standards in place delivers a victory for public health, climate action, and consumer’s wallets. These proven fuel efficiency and carbon pollution standards, developed with input from automakers and key stakeholders, have already shown success by delivering economic and public health benefits. Not only that, but they have spurred innovation in the auto industry, reduced our reliance on fossil fuels, and helped consumers save money at the pump. We applaud the Obama administration for continuing to move forward on climate action by addressing one of the largest sectors of carbon pollution and stand ready to fend off any future attempts to undermine this progress.”
