Washington, DC—In response to Senate EPW Republicans breaking committee rules to vote on Scott Pruitt’s nomination for EPA Administrator, LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld issued the following statement:

“It’s all too fitting that on Groundhog Day we’d wake up to the same egregiously irresponsible tactics by Senate Republicans to ram through an EPA nominee who refuses to answer vitally important questions. Nothing has changed since yesterday – we still don’t know what Scott Pruitt is hiding. Nevertheless, Chairman Barrasso and Senate Republicans not only met but in an even more outrageous move they broke committee rules to report Pruitt out on party lines. Once again, we commend the EPW Senate Democrats for standing up for our bedrock environmental and public health safeguards and opposing Scott Pruitt.  Everything about Pruitt is antithetical to the vitally important mission of the EPA, and we call on the full Senate to reject his nomination.”
