Washington, D.C. — Today, on Speaker Pelosi’s set deadline of the committee mark-up process and ahead of the expected House Budget Committee mark-up and floor vote, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released the following statement from Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld:

“We applaud Democratic committee chairs, members, and leadership for prioritizing the transformational legislation we need for climate, clean energy, justice, and jobs during the committee mark-up process. We are thrilled to see so many climate, conservation, and environmental justice provisions included that are critical to  cutting climate pollution in half by 2030. We urge Congress to pass the Climate Test and swiftly finalize, pass, and send the Build Back Better Act to President Biden,  which will create a more clean, just, and equitable future for all. Communities across the country are experiencing the devastating impacts of the climate crisis, and this is our once in a generation opportunity to address it in a way that also addresses racial and economic inequity in this country and rewards work not wealth. Failure is not an option.”
