Washington, DC: In response to the passing of Rep. John Dingell, League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:

“We celebrate the life and legacy of Rep. John Dingell and mourn his passing. He played a crucial role in enacting countless cornerstone environmental laws, from the Endangered Species Act, to the Clean Water Act, to the National Environmental Policy Act. He was an important voice on environmental protection for Michigan, the country, and the planet for decades. Our air and water are cleaner today because of his leadership. Our thoughts are with his wife, Rep. Debbie Dingell, who continues that environmental legacy today, and the whole Dingell family.”
