Washington D.C. – LCV Victory Fund congratulates Josh Harder, Katie Hill, Katie Porter, Harley Rouda and Mike Levin on their victories in California’s congressional elections. The group invested a total of more than $2.3 million on TV, radio, digital and mail across the five House districts.

“This year, voters in California demanded real climate action,” said Gene Karpinski, LCV President. “It is long past time for all of our representatives to address the reality of climate change and take action to reduce carbon pollution. California’s new class of congressional clean energy champions is committed to doing just that.”

In the 10th district, LCVVF spent nearly $100,000 on digital and mail to get out the vote for Josh Harder and defeat incumbent Jeff Denham.

In the 25th district, the group partnered with EDF Action on a radio ad campaign calling out Katie Hill’s opponent, incumbent Steve Knight, for his record of siding with special interests over California families, as well as early digital ads on his votes against clean air.

In the 45th district, incumbent Mimi Walters was named to the iconic Dirty Dozen list for her record of prioritizing polluters over public health. LCVVF also ran digital ads about how she sides with Trump on offshore drilling.

In the 48th district, LCVVF ran digital and TV ads calling out incumbent Dana Rohrabacher’s extreme climate denial. Rohrabacher was also named to the Dirty Dozen.

In the 49th district, Diane Harkey was named to the Dirty Dozen and called out in an LCVVF TV ad for refusing to vote against offshore drilling, as well as digitals ads for her votes against clean air. LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program also turned out voters for Mike Levin as part of a nationwide field program that engaged nearly 1,500 volunteers.

Environmental donors contributed nearly $1,650,000 to California candidates via GiveGreen.  GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $21 million for the 2018 cycle.

LCV Action Fund endorsed Harder, Hill, Porter, Rouda and Levin because of their commitments to renewable energy and climate action. LCV Action Fund also endorsed Jessica Morse, TJ Cox, Salud Carbajal, Jimmy Gomez, Gil Cisneros, Nanette Diaz Barragán, Ammar Campa-Najjar and Scott Peters.
