WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today the League of Conservation Voters congratulated Jimmy Gomez on being elected to represent the people of California’s 34th congressional district in the special election.
“LCV is thrilled to congratulate Congressman-elect Jimmy Gomez on his victory last night,” said LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Gomez will be a strong voice in Congress, fighting for clean energy jobs, environmental justice and healthy communities. Gomez is a recognized environmental leader, and we know he will continue to lead the way in Congress. He understands the importance of standing up for the basic rights of clean air and water, which are critical to the health of all families.”
“With a climate change denier in the White House, there has never been a more important time to send an environmental champion to Washington, D.C. as our voice,” said James Johnson, political director for the California League of Conservation Voters and 34th District resident. “With this victory, voters of the 34th Congressional District send a strong champion to Washington, a champion who will stand up to President Trump and EPA Administrator Pruitt’s assaults on our clean air and drinking water, and who will stand against attacks on our National Monuments – including the San Gabriel Mountains. CLCV congratulates Congressman-elect Gomez and looks forward to working together.”
LCV Victory Fund was also proud to contribute $25,000 to Latino Victory Fund’s quarter-million dollar mail, field and digital program to turn out Latino voters in support of Gomez.
GiveGreen, a project of LCV Action Fund supported by NRDC Action Fund PAC, has raised or contributed over $17,000 for Gomez’s campaign.
