WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the passage of H.R. 1138, Rep. Simpson’s bill that would establish three new wilderness areas in central Idaho, LCV and the Conservation Voters for Idaho jointly issued the following statement:

“This is a great step in a long-standing effort to permanently protect some of Idaho’s most treasured natural places. We urge the Senate to swiftly pass this bill, and if they do not, we encourage the Obama Administration to hold a public meeting in Idaho to hear from the more than 10,000 residents who support a Boulder-White Clouds National Monument. Nearby communities have been working for years to safeguard the majestic Boulder-White Clouds area, and they deserve to see their lands protected now.”
