Washington D.C. — The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), Climate Power and House Majority Forward (HMF) today launched a new ad campaign holding House Republicans accountable for supporting efforts to shut down the government and force draconian cuts to popular programs that people depend on. The more-than $500,000 campaign will include a national cable ad and in-district ads, including buys during college football games on September 23rd (Games include Rutgers vs. Michigan, Syracuse vs. Army, Colorado vs. Oregon, and USC vs. AZ State). The Republican representatives featured in these new ads include:
“House Republicans are again showing they are willing to throw the country into chaos, risk their own districts’ future and the entire country’s economy–all to score points for Big Oil and MAGA extremists,” said Pete Maysmith, Senior Vice President for Campaigns at the League of Conservation Voters. “We aren’t going to stop making sure these communities hear about the real costs families could feel, including an end to newly created jobs and higher costs, if Republicans in Congress, including their own representative, force an unnecessary and damaging shutdown or even more rollbacks.”
“Instead of working to grow the middle class, MAGA Republicans are threatening to shut down the government,” said House Majority Forward Executive Director Abby Curran Horrell. “Americans must make their voices loud and clear, and tell their representatives to stand against cuts to health care, clean energy jobs, and Social Security.”
“MAGA Republicans are so dead set on killing our clean energy boom and catering to Big Oil that they’re willing to shut down the government to make it happen — causing chaos and preventing essential workers from getting paid,” said Lori Lodes, Executive Director of Climate Power. “Their constituents deserve to know that their elected officials would rather go to bat for Big Oil than lower costs and create jobs in their communities.”

All just to give yet another handout to big oil and other huge corporations.
Tell Juan Ciscomani to side with us – not an extreme MAGA agenda that crushes the middle class.
From H.R. 1 onward, MAGA Republicans have been trying to roll back popular programs that are already supercharging the economy with a clean energy boom in favor of more handouts for Big Oil. During the debt limit fight, they brought the country to the brink of crisis with demands for more severe cuts to popular and effective programs. House Republicans have attempted to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act partly or in its entirety at least 16 times already, including in many of the spending bills moving through Congress. Now, they are threatening a harmful government shutdown if their extreme demands aren’t met.
