LCV Statement FY16 Senate Interior Appropriations Bill Mark Up

Jun 18, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Senate Appropriations Committee marked up and passed the FY16 Interior Appropriations bill. In response, LCV Deputy Legislative Director Alex Taurel issued the following statement:

“The Senate Interior Appropriations bill is an egregious attack on nearly every major environmental priority facing our nation, slashing funding for the EPA and other conservation priorities. This bill reads like it was written by big polluters, and includes damaging policy riders that have no place in a spending bill, including blocking the widely supported Clean Water Rule and Clean Power Plan. Not only will these riders hamper efforts to combat climate change, but they will turn back the clock to a time when industry can pollute our air and water with impunity. Thank you to Senators Udall and Mikulski, and the other Senators who stood up to big polluters by voting against this atrocious legislation.”
