Washington, D.C. – In anticipation of the introduction of resolutions and floor speeches led by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (RI) and Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-33) expressing congressional disapproval of industrial climate denial activities and exposing the polluter-funded “Web of Denial,” LCV President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:
“We stand with the climate champions in Congress who are shining a badly-needed light on the nefarious activities of the Koch brothers and other Big Polluters. For far too long, they have misled the public on the scientific consensus surrounding climate change and tried to block efforts to address it. It is long past time for this polluter-funded “Web of Denial” to stop hiding from public view, and these resolutions and floor speeches are a critically important step. There has been more progress on the generational challenge of climate change in the last year than ever before, and we cannot let the Koch brothers and their allies block additional progress.”
