LCV Statement on House Passing Solar Tariff CRA

Apr 28, 2023

Washington, DC –  In response to the House passing H.J. Res. 39, a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval which seeks to end the temporary pause on tariffs for solar components imported from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, LCV released the following statement from Government Affairs Advocate Art Terrazas:

“We should be focused on the effective implementation of the historic clean energy investments in the Inflation Reduction Act, which are already helping to shift our country to cleaner and fairer supply chains and supporting the rapid deployment of clean energy at the pace and scale to meet the urgency of the climate crisis.

Unfortunately, this CRA could dramatically undermine these efforts by hampering the production and deployment of solar panels, threatening high-quality solar construction jobs, and derailing our climate goals.”

Last week, ahead of votes on H.J.Res 39 and S.J. Res 15, 10 environmental groups sent a letter to members of both the House and Senate opposing the bills.
