WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the House Energy & Commerce Committee markup of H.R. 2576, the TSCA Modernization Act, the League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement from Legislative Representative Madeleine Foote:
“For nearly forty years our broken chemical regulatory system has failed to protect American families from dangerous chemicals, and during that time we’ve seen the number of health problems like childhood cancer and learning disabilities rise. While we appreciate the Energy & Commerce Committee’s work to fix many of these problems, the TSCA Modernization Act of 2015 gives too much deference to industry. We will continue to work with all parties to ensure any chemical reform bill truly protects public health from the dangers of toxic chemicals.”
