WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the Energy and Commerce Committee’s expected passage of H.R. 2042, Rep. Whitfield’s attack on the EPA Clean Power Plan, LCV Legislative Director Sara Chieffo issued the following statement:
“Rep. Whitfield’s “just say no” bill lets our nation’s biggest polluters off the hook and enables them to continue to spew unlimited amounts of carbon pollution into our air. We cannot afford to let legislators backed by the fossil fuel industry undermine the EPA’s efforts to protect our communities from the devastating impacts of climate change. This legislation is a direct attack on the heart of the Clean Air Act, which for decades has improved the health of our families while our economy has grown.”
