Washington D.C. – LCV Victory Fund congratulates Senator Jon Tester on his successful reelection. LCV Victory Fund invested more than $3 million in Montana elections, primarily on door-to-door canvassing through the New American Jobs Fund.
“We are thrilled that Montanans voted to keep Jon Tester in the Senate,” said Gene Karpinski, LCV President. “As the Senate’s only working farmer, Senator Tester has demonstrated a vigorous passion for protecting our lands and combating climate change, and we look forward to continuing to work together to protect our public lands and grow Montana’s outdoor recreation economy.”
Tester’s opponent, Matt Rosendale, was named to the infamous Dirty Dozen because of his hostility toward public lands. LCV Victory Fund ran an early TV ad exposing Rosendale’s ties to out-of-state billionaires who’ve blocked access to Montana’s public lands, and public lands were a defining theme of the race.
The New American Jobs Fund field program — a partnership with the United Steelworkers (USW) Works — knocked on more than 180,000 doors and sent over 530,000 pieces of mail supporting Tester. LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program also turned out voters for both Tester and Kathleen Williams as part of a nationwide field program that engaged nearly 1,500 volunteers.
Environmental donors contributed over $500,000 to Tester’s campaign via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $21 million for the 2018 cycle.
LCV Action Fund endorsed Tester and Williams because of their strong commitments to our nation’s public lands and Montana’s air, water and way of life.
