Green Bay, Wisconsin – The League of Conservation Voters today launched a $300,000 campaign thanking Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) for protecting the Great Lakes. Baldwin has been a leader in Congress on protecting the lakes from pollution, keeping Asian carp out of the region and working across the aisle to secure funding for Great Lakes cleanup so Wisconsin families can continue to boat, fish, hunt and build lasting memories.

WATCH: “Big”

“Senator Baldwin is a champion for our clean water, fighting relentlessly to keep polluters from ruining the Great Lakes,” said League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski.“Senator Baldwin has stood up for the Great Lakes against attacks from polluters, invasive species and a reckless Congress unwilling to safeguard our clean water. With the administration now threatening to practically end support for Great Lakes restoration, we need her leadership more than ever.”

The Trump administration’s budget plan proposed cutting funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative by 97 percent, nearly eliminating a crucial program for protecting Wisconsin’s clean water that Baldwin saved just last year. The new ad asks Wisconsinites to call Baldwin and thank her for her work protecting the Great Lakes.

“Wisconsinites value the Great Lakes not just for their natural beauty, but for their outdoor recreation opportunities and the memories they create,” said Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Kerry Schumann. “It’s important that people know that our lakes still need protecting and that they should continue to thank Tammy Baldwin for working with both parties to find solutions.”

The ad features Green Bay sportsman Paul Kruse and highlights Baldwin’s long record of championing clean water and safer lakes for Wisconsinites. When Asian carp threatened the Great Lakes, Baldwin supported aggressive efforts to eradicate the species and stop an invasion. Baldwin also won bipartisan reauthorization for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and fought polluters who wanted to dump waste into the waters. It was this big.

…This big.

…This big.

Paul Kruse:

Well, this fish story’s actually true.

Tammy Baldwin worked with Democrats and Republicans to protect the Great Lakes to stop Asian carp and other invasive species from coming here.

And Baldwin worked with both parties to ensure less pollution, cleaner water, and safer lakes for Wisconsin families.

Thank Senator Baldwin for Protecting the Great Lakes, big time.

I got one!
