Washington, D.C. – In response to the Council on Environmental Quality’s final ‘Phase 1’ rule restoring some environmental input requirements to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) issued the following statement from Senior Director of Government Affairs Matthew Davis:

“The Biden-Harris administration’s final rule restores some key damage done by President Trump, but more action is needed to improve implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act.  We look forward to a fuller and more robust second rulemaking to ensure communities and the environment are safeguarded and the public is meaningfully engaged in major projects that affect their lives and surroundings. Strengthening NEPA plays a key role in the Biden administration delivering on its promise to advance environmental justice.”
