LCV Responds to Sen. Murkowski’s Comments on the Obama Administration’s Proposal Protecting Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

Jan 26, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released this statement in response to a conference call by Senator Lisa Murkowski today reacting to the Obama administration’s proposal protecting millions of acres in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska:

“It’s quite unfortunate that Senator Murkowski and the rest of the Alaska delegation are concerned about padding the profits of the richest oil companies in the world rather than providing badly needed protections to this iconic landscape. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is just too special to drill, and we owe it to future generations to protect it.”
