Washington DC— In response to Leader McConnell’s substitute amendment for funding the government beyond the September 30 deadline, LCV Legislative Representative Madeleine Foote issued the following statement:

“It’s time for Senate Majority Leader McConnell to stop playing political games with people’s lives. The people of Flint have been waiting for help for far too long, and like those affected by the floods in Louisiana, deserve immediate disaster relief from the federal government. It is shameful that Senate Republicans are pushing a bill that again ignores those in Flint who still don’t have access to clean drinking water.”
