Washington D.C. – LCV Victory Fund congratulates Tim Kaine, Elaine Luria, Abigail Spanberger and Jennifer Wexton on their wins in Virginia’s congressional elections. LCV Victory Fund invested $625,000 in Virginia elections, focused on the 2nd and 7th congressional districts.
“We are excited to work with these environmental leaders in the next Congress,” said Gene Karpinski, LCV President. “Protecting the Chesapeake Bay and fighting the climate crisis are priorities for Virginians, and these members will be strong allies in Congress.”
LCV Victory Fund ran two TV ads in Virginia, in the 2nd congressional district against Scott Taylor and in the 7th congressional district against David Brat. Barbara Comstock was also named to the infamous Dirty Dozen, along with Kaine’s opponent Corey Stewart.
LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program also turned out voters for Kaine, Luria and Spanberger as part of a nationwide field program that engaged nearly 1,500 volunteers.
Environmental donors contributed over $125,000 to Kaine’s campaign via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $21 million for the 2018 cycle.
LCV Action Fund endorsed Kaine, Luria, Spanberger and Wexton because of their commitments to protecting clean air, clean water, and fighting for climate action. LCV Action Fund also endorsed Donald McEachin and Leslie Cockburn.
