Today the Nevada Legislature passed Assembly Bill 206, which increases Nevada’s Renewable Portfolio Standard to 40 percent by 2030.

“Increasing Nevada’s renewable energy standard will show the nation that our state is ready to lead on fighting the effects of climate change and embracing the new energy future. If enacted, Nevada’s Renewable Portfolio Standard would create thousands of jobs, reduce pollution and save families money. According to Stanford University researchers, moving to renewables will save the average American family over $1,700 a year in health care costs and energy savings. Now is the time to act, and we urge Governor Sandoval to listen to the 84 percent of Nevadans of color who support a stronger RPS and sign this bill into law,” said LCV’s Chispa Nevada Director Rudy Zamora
