LCV Congratulates Endorsed California Candidates

Nov 9, 2020

Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Ami Bera (CA-07), Josh Harder (CA-10), Nancy Pelosi (CA-12), Jimmy Panetta (CA-20), Salud Carbajal (CA-24), Pete Aguilar (CA-31), Ted Lieu (CA-33), Norma Torres (CA-35), Nanette Barragán (CA-44), Katie Porter (CA-45), and Mike Levin (CA-49) on their victories in California.

“Californians have been directly faced with the devastating impacts from the climate crisis and the strong show of support for these environmental champions shows that California voters are demanding action from all of their representatives,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “Congratulations on your victories — we’re looking forward to fighting for a just and equitable transition to a clean energy future alongside each of you.”

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer with the   Harder, Cox, Cisneros, Porter, Rouda, and Levin campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that engaged nearly 2,600 LCV members.

Environmental donors contributed over $1.2 million to California candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $43 million for the 2020 cycle.

In addition to Bera, Harder, Pelosi, Panetta, Carbajal, Aguilar, Lieu, Torres, Barragán, Porter, and Levin, LCV Action Fund also endorsed U.S. House candidates Brynne Kennedy (CA-04), Chris Bubser (CA-08),  TJ Cox (CA-21), Christy Smith (CA-25), Gil Cisneros (CA-39), and Harley Rouda (CA-48). The races in CA-04, CA-08, CA-21, CA-25, CA-39, and CA-48 have not been called yet.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
