Re: LCV Action Fund 2026 Pre-Election Final Updates
Voters across the country have made it clear: they cannot afford the economic disaster of Trump and MAGA Republican’s dirty energy agenda. Trump and Congressional Republicans are raising costs, banning clean energy, and gutting protections for our air, water, public lands and climate so Big Polluters, corrupt utilities, and Big Tech can line their pockets. People are fed up with Trump’s failed energy policies which are making us poorer, sicker and less safe.
In the days leading up to the election, voters are turning out for the pro-environment, pro-democracy candidates up and down the ballot who are committed to putting families and communities first, and who support real energy solutions that put us on the path to a more affordable, clean energy future.
Together with our state affiliates, LCV Action Fund has endorsed nearly 190 candidates in the 2026 midterm election cycle.
This year, LCV invested $1.5 million into a brand-new field program, Clean Energy Corps. It’s among the first canvass efforts in the nation to work in collaboration with campaigns in battleground states with the goal of knocking 150,000 doors by Election Day. LCV also mobilized its national membership to volunteer through an approximately $2 million dollar investment in GreenRoots. Combined, these efforts have reached over 500,000 voters. LCV members and organizers have completed nearly 30,000 shifts to ensure voters have a plan to make their voice heard this election, and as we near Election Day, are continuing to canvass, phonebank, and meet voters where they are across the country.
LCV Action Fund Endorsements
This election cycle, LCV Action Fund endorsed 186 pro-environment, pro-democracy federal candidates, including 23 for the U.S. Senate and 163 for the U.S. House of Representatives. Candidates LCV Action Fund endorsed include 40% who are people of color, 47% who are women, and 5% who identify as LGBTQ+. Find all of LCV Action Fund’s publicly endorsed candidates here.
LCV Action Fund-endorsed candidates who will make history if elected include:
Elevating Energy and Climate
It is clear that rising costs of energy and health are the top issues for voters across the country, especially as people experienced record heat and their highest energy bills ever this summer. People blame the Trump administration and their rubber-stamping allies in Congress for handing out corrupt deals to their Big Polluter and billionaire CEO donors. The same Big Polluters who backed Trump’s campaign and are making our air and water dirtier and our communities sicker while fueling the climate crisis. And this election, we saw how concerns about the impacts of data centers on energy bills, air and water pollution, and communities increasingly became top of mind for people across the country.
Our endorsed candidates up and down the ballot ran on the need for clean energy solutions to the climate crisis, protecting clean air and water, safeguarding public lands, and standing up for free and fair elections. Just a few examples include:
Reaching Voters Where They Are
We met voters where they were — as people experienced skyrocketing energy prices across the country, affordability remained top of mind for voters. And poll after poll reaffirmed what our volunteers and organizers saw in states across the country: voters, especially Black and Latino voters, are deeply concerned about rising costs, including rising energy costs.
LCV invested $3.5 million in our organizing programs this midterm cycle, spending more than ever to reach young voters and leveraging every tool in our toolbox to reach voters. This year’s investments included $1.5 million for our newly launched Clean Energy Corps field program and approximately $2 million for GreenRoots, our voter mobilization program.
See more details on this year’s organizing programs below.

Clean Energy Corps: New Program Mobilizing Voters Alongside Campaigns
LCV launched its new field program, Clean Energy Corps, to work alongside campaigns in three battleground districts. This program mobilized voters in support of Representative Kathy Castor (FL-14) and candidates Rebecca Bennett (NJ-07), and Paige Cognetti (PA-08). Clean Energy Corps organizers helped add capacity to campaigns to reach and turn out voters who are historically excluded from outreach efforts, and they have knocked on over 137,000 doors so far.
Highlights from what our organizers heard on the ground include:
Concerns in FL-14 centered around costs; many are worried about the future of Medicare and Medicaid while others pointed to the cost of fuel and groceries. Tampa Bay area residents expressed frustration with Republicans’ response to these compounding expenses and committed their support to Rep. Kathy Castor because she’ll fight to protect their healthcare and community. Just this week, we spoke with a lifelong Republican who said the Republican majority hasn’t handled the cost of living crisis so they decided to vote for Rep. Kathy Castor for real change.
Voters across NJ-07 shared stories about the tough decisions they faced to pay for basic necessities like energy bills, healthcare, and housing. Rebecca Bennett’s plan to lower costs and make New Jersey more affordable has been a selling point on the doors. Many also experienced flooding in their communities and are excited about Bennett’s plans to Invest in climate-resilient infrastructure projects that create good-paying jobs and protect New Jersey from damage from intensifying storms and flooding.
In PA-08, we regularly heard from voters that they’re fed up with rising costs and are concerned about data centers driving up their energy bills even higher. They’re supporting Paige Cognetti because she’ll fight corruption and hold corporations and developers accountable so communities aren’t footing the bill for costly projects. Her service as mayor is often referenced by voters as a reason they trust she’s right for the job.
GreenRoots: Mobilizing LCV Members and Engaging Young Voters
This midterm cycle, GreenRoots mobilized LCV’s national membership in support of 30 LCV Action Fund-endorsed candidates in 13 battleground states. GreenRoots has mobilized LCV members to volunteer on behalf of LCV Action Fund-endorsed candidates in every election since 2012.
So far, over 2,000 LCV members have completed nearly 30,000 volunteer shifts heading into the final four days of the election. LCV members have written letters and postcards, made calls and knocked doors to turn out voters for Senate and House candidates. This includes a new tactic: writing 11,500 postcards to other LCV members aged 18-35 to drive their support for LCV Action Fund-endorsed candidates and turn out young voters.
LCV has invested more than ever in turning out young voters this cycle, hosting virtual volunteer webinars so members can learn more about LCV’s midterm electoral priorities and key races, and take action by sharing personalized vote guides, making plans to vote, and promoting LCV’s endorsement guide. We also partnered with creators to reach over 800,000 people across social media platforms to encourage them to get involved in the fight for climate champions this election cycle.
This year, GreenRoots focused on the following Senate and Congressional races:
Arizona: Amish Shah (AZ-01), Jonathan Nez (AZ-02)
Georgia: Jon Ossoff (GA-Sen)
Iowa: Josh Turek (IA-Sen), Christina Bohannan (IA-01), Sarah Trone Garriott (IA-03)

Virginia: Mark Warner (VA-Sen), Shannon Taylor (VA-01), Elaine Luria (VA-02), Jennifer McClellan (VA-04)

In the weeks before Election Day, major environmental groups organized a climate week of action to host grassroots canvassing events across the country in support of pro-environment candidates who are committed to protect constituents from data centers spiking their energy costs – a sharp contrast with their opponents’ positions. Candidates included Janelle Stelson (PA-10), Will Lawrence (MI-07), Shannon Taylor (VA-01), and Dr. Amish Shah (AZ-01).

About LCV Action Fund
The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environment candidates who oppose climate action.
