Representative Stephanie Bice (R-OK) sponsored H.J.Res. 24, a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval, which would repeal the Department of Energy’s energy conservation standards for walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers. The CRA is an extreme and blunt tool that is being used by anti-environmental members of Congress who want to permanently strip away protections for our environment, communities, wildlife, and natural heritage. This resolution would block new money-saving efficiency standards, force customers to rely on outdated, inefficient technology, and stall innovation towards better, more efficient products. Appliance efficiency standards save families hundreds of dollars, relieve stress on the energy grid, support an industry that employs millions of people in nearly every county, and lead to improved air quality and public health in communities disproportionately impacted by air pollution.
