Yes

Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) sponsored an amendment to S.Con.Res. 7, the FY25 Senate Budget Resolution, to support the recruitment and retention of federal wildland firefighters and other federal personnel. This amendment would help ensure wildland firefighters receive fair wages, are exempted from Director of Government Efficiency Elon Musk’s planned firings and hiring freezes, and are provided industry-standard leave policies and other worker protections. Unlike legislation under consideration to undermine bedrock environmental laws in the name of wildfire protection, efforts to retain and support wildland firefighters and federal personnel who respond to fire are direct and effective policies to protect communities from wildfire. On February 20, the Senate rejected this amendment by a vote of 48-52 (Senate roll call vote 69). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
