The Senate considered President Donald Trump’s nomination of Stevan Pearce to serve as Director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Director of the BLM is responsible for leading stewardship of more than 245 million acres of our beloved public lands. Pearce has a track record of supporting the sell off of public lands, conflicts of interest with the oil and gas industry, and a history of trying to shrink and block the designation of national monuments. Our public lands have faced unprecedented attacks under the Trump administration and the nomination of Pearce to be at the helm of the largest land management agency in the country is yet another threat to our public lands. On May 18, the Senate confirmed Stevan Pearce to be Director of the Bureau of Land Management – as part of an en bloc nomination vote – by a vote of 46-43 (Senate roll call vote 125). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
