Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) sponsored an amendment (S.Amdt. 659) to S.Con.Res. 7, the FY25 Senate Budget Resolution, which would ensure full and uninterrupted funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs health care and benefits provided by the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022, also known as the “PACT Act”. This would block the Trump administration from cutting or delaying funding for veterans exposed to toxic chemicals in a variety of campaigns in service of our country’s defense, such as chemical weapons burn pits. Exposure to these toxic chemicals can cause or worsen cancer, asthma, and lead to a variety of permanent impairments and health problems. On February 21, the Senate rejected the Blumenthal amendment by a vote of 47-52 (Senate roll call vote 83). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
