Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) sponsored a motion to commit (MTC) H.R. 1, the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), to the Committee on Finance with instructions to revise their section of the bill to ensure the protection of American clean energy manufacturing jobs. H.R. 1 aims to cut incentives that have driven hundreds of billions of dollars in investment and hundreds of thousands of jobs in solar manufacturing, electric vehicles, advanced batteries, and other clean energy technologies produced in America. This amendment would prevent H.R. 1 from stymying one of the fastest-growing sectors of the economy. On July 1, the Senate rejected the Warnock MTC by a vote of 48-51 (Senate roll call vote 359). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE. The president signed H.R. 1, the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act, into law on July 4th.
