Reinstating Fired Federal Land Managers

Senate Roll Call Vote 68

Pro-environment vote

Yes

Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) sponsored an amendment to S.Con.Res. 7, the FY25 Senate Budget Resolution, to reinstate federal employees that Director of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk, recently illegally fired at the Forest Service, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Bureau of Land Management. This amendment would reinstate the thousands of federal employees fired in February 2025 and would restore the ability of federal bureaus to complete their popular, mandated, statutory duties to safeguard our nation’s natural and cultural resources. At a time when our public lands are stressed by climate change-driven disasters and lack of funding, the loss of federal employees ahead of peak visitation season is devastating. Restoring these positions would increase visitor safety, preservation of natural and cultural resources, and ensure adequate maintenance of natural and built infrastructure. On February 20, the Senate rejected the Bennet amendment by a vote of 48-52 (Senate roll call vote 68). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
