Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) sponsored an amendment to H.R. 1, the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), which would strike $100 million in additional funding for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on top of their annual appropriations. If not removed, the funding would be used to support OMB Director Russell Vought’s anti-environmental deregulatory efforts and his illegal withholding of funds appropriated by Congress to clean up our air and water. Vought’s actions undermine checks and balances between Congress and the administration and the implementation of critical federal environmental protections. On July 1, the Senate rejected the Van Hollen amendment by a vote of 50-50 (Senate roll call vote 368). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
