Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) sponsored S. 4072, A Bill to Prohibit the Use of Funds to Implement, Administer, or Enforce Certain Rules of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which would prohibit funding and finalization of the EPA’s Cleaner Cars Rules. Tailpipe emission standards help to clean our air, broaden vehicle choices for consumers while saving them money, and tackle the climate crisis. This bill would undermine our ability to reduce vehicle pollution, the leading source of climate pollution, and spur domestic auto manufacturing. On April 18, the Senate rejected S. 4072 by a vote of 52-46 (6o votes were needed for passage; Senate roll call vote 142). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
