Jared Golden

Maine - District 02

Jared Golden has a proven record of standing up for clean air and water and environmental protection.

Golden is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who has served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2014, and rose to the position of Assistant Majority Leader. Golden has been a strong environmental ally in the Maine House of Representatives, sponsoring legislation to incentivize homeowners and landlords to address issues of lead pollution and earning perfect scores on the Maine Conservation Voters’ Scorecard in both 2015 and 2016.

As a representative, Golden he will prioritize fighting climate change, fully funding the EPA, and rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement. He will advocate for creating jobs in clean energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Golden joins the U.S. House after defeating Representative Bruce Poliquin, who earned a 17% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

In his own words:

For generations, Maine’s clean air, water, forests, wildlife, and abundant natural resources have been essential to our economy and our way of life. Global climate change is real, and policy-makers need to start listening to experts in the fields of science. I believe we have a duty to all Mainers to prevent the economic and environmental devastation that climate change will bring to our state.
