Representative Paulina Luna (R-FL) sponsored an amendment to H.R. 7567, the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, also known as the Farm Bill, which would strike provisions in the bill that would have prohibited states and localities from adopting stronger pesticide protections, limited consumers’ ability to sue chemical companies for health harms, and exempted chemicals from public health and environmental review under the Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act. The Farm Bill provisions would have jeopardized the health of our families, communities, and environment and let big chemical companies off the hook for poisoning our children and food supply. Without this amendment, hundreds of existing laws in states across the country would have been invalidated, including limits on spraying toxic pesticides near schools. On April 30, the House approved the Luna amendment by a vote of 280-142, (House roll call vote 148). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
