Representative Russell Fry (R-SC) sponsored H.R. 4593, the so-called Saving Homeowners from Overregulation With Exceptional Rinsing (SHOWER) Act, which would effectively eliminate already-attained federal showerhead efficiency standards. The bill, by changing the legal definition of a showerhead, would encourage higher overall water and energy use. This will result in even higher household water and energy costs, place additional strain on water and energy infrastructure, and shift costs onto consumers and utilities, with disproportionately high burdens on renters and low income households. On January 13th, the House approved H.R. 4593 by a vote of 226-197 (House roll call vote 23). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
