Issues
Representative Joe Neguse (D-CO) offered an amendment to H.R.4350, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022, which would support Colorado’s outdoor recreation economy as well as protect the Grand Canyon from new uranium leasing. It would protect 400,000 acres of public lands in Colorado for wilderness and recreation including designating a National Historic Landscape for Camp Hale to honor the Army’s famed 10th Mountain Division. It would also protect nearly a million acres around the Grand Canyon from uranium mining and other dangerous mining operations that could endanger local communities as well as our beloved national wonder. On September 22, the House approved the Neguse amendment by a vote of 224-204 (House roll call vote 274). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
