Representative Troy Balderson (R–OH) sponsored H.R. 3616, the Reliable Power Act, which would grant the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) an unprecedented, over-reaching veto authority to block rules from other agencies that relate to the electricity sector, a power that no other agency currently holds. This would unfairly skew the regulatory process in favor of utilities and grid operators, moving decisions on air, water, and public health safeguards away from public awareness, input, and oversight. On December 18, the House approved H.R.3616 by a vote of 225-203 (House roll call vote 347). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
