Chair Virginia Foxx (R-NC) introduced H.Res. 499, which would make engrossment corrections to H.R. 1, the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), to allow it to comply with Senate privilege rules. H.R. 1, eliminates historic clean energy tax credits, destroys clean energy jobs, and sells off our public lands to corporate polluters. The House made these changes after the Senate’s “privilege scrub,” a component of the arduous partisan budget reconciliation process. Voting no on this rule would stop H.R. 1 from advancing to the Senate for consideration. On June 11, the House approved H.Res. 499 by a vote of 213-207 (Roll call vote 165). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE. The president signed H.R. 1, the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act, as amended by the Senate, into law on July 4th.
