U. S. House of Representatives

    Rep. Nancy Pelosi

Rep. Steny Hoyer

After many years of the House leadership and committee chairs bringing one environmental assault after another to the House floor, the 110th Congress offers a welcome reprieve and an opportunity to move in a vastly different direction. We have high hopes that we can make real progress on clean energy and environmental protection under the leadership of Speaker Pelosi (LCV Lifetime Score of 92%) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (LCV Lifetime Score of 75%).

Another good sign for the environment is that key committees will now be chaired by environmental champions like Rep. Rahall who is replacing defeated Dirty Dozen member Richard Pombo as chair of the House Resources Committee.

A Supreme Court ruling has removed restrictions on how much companies like ExxonMobil can spend in elections, drowning out the voices of the majority of Americans who support clean energy.

The Senate Must Act Quickly
We saw a major step forward when the House passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES) last year. Now, it's up to the Senate to take action. Send an email to your Senators today urging them to act now!
