Representative Jared Polis (D-CO) introduced two amendments to H.R. 5055, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017. The second of the two amendments reduces funding for DOE’s Fossil Energy Research and Development programs by $285 million and transfers the savings to the spending reduction amount, saving taxpayers from further subsidizing mature industries like coal and oil. On May 25, the House rejected the Polis amendment by a vote of 144-275 (House roll call vote 246). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
