Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) sponsored H.Con.Res.89, which would express the sense of Congress that a carbon tax would be harmful to the United States economy. This short-sighted and unnecessary resolution is the latest example of climate action denial that ignores the advice of scientists, national security experts, health professionals, and faith leaders sounding the alarm on climate change. Instead of offering real plans to address the climate crisis, this resolution seeks to take potential solutions off the table, ignoring the majority of Americans who support taking action. H.Con.Res.89 ignores the costs our country is already experiencing due to climate change. On June 10, the House passed H.Con.Res.89 by a vote of 237-163 (House Roll Call Vote 295). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
