Representative Jared Polis (D-CO) introduced two amendments to H.R. 5055, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017. The first of these amendments would increase funding for DOE’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy programs by $9.75 million, transferring that funding from Fossil Energy Research and Development. This money will help research clean energy while reducing wasteful spending on the polluting fuels of the past. On May 25, the House rejected the Polis amendment by a vote of 167-251 (House roll call vote 245). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
