Representative Ken Buck (R-CO) offered an amendment to H.R. 5293, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2017, which would prohibit the U.S. military from continuing to research and prepare for the effects climate change will have on military installations. On June 16, the House approved the Buck amendment by a vote of 216-205 (House roll call vote 314). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE. H.R. 5293 failed cloture in the Senate on September 6.
